LAVAD, Light Armored Vehicle Air Defense, a derivative of the U.S. Air Force MWS, is a fully integrated air defense system developed by the General Electric Company for the United States. Complementing the GAU-12U's close-in effectiveness is the longer-range Marine-inventoried Stinger missile.
